Featured Therapist – Ellen Simonsen MA LPCC

Ellen Simonsen MA LPCC has been a wonderful addition to CRC’s team of clinical staff since early 2011. She is a former adult and pediatric Registered Nurse and current Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who sees clients in CRC’s Golden Valley location. Ellen has experience working with adults who have experienced childhood emotional, physical, and sexual abuse and she has a heart for the underserved and the undervalued.  Additionally, she has experience with clients who have committed sexual offenses, clients on probation, and clients re-entering society following incarceration.

Connection is a high value for Ellen. Some of the greatest privileges in Ellen’s life have included walking with her mother through the journey of Alzheimer’s, coming alongside women at Shakopee Correctional Facility through the AMICUS and Prison Fellowship programs, co-leading a ministry for mother’s raising children with special needs, and developing relationships with young women while teaching English in the Middle East.  Ellen’s warmth, knowledge and experience are evident the moment you meet her. She helps all of her clients feel at ease and she encourages them to share and strive for their goals.

As a nature lover, Ellen enjoys the outdoors and likes to be in perpetual motion. Her favorite activities include hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Ever curious she always wonders, “What’s around the next bend?”
